Congratulations to Ryan Vogelsong on winning the 2011 – Willie Mac award! Vogelsong has taken advantage of Barry Zito’s first injury by stealing the starters job and never giving it back.
Giants fans should be happy to know Vogelsong will be back in 2012. He’s arbitration eligible so he’s not going anywhere.

Have A Night Beltran
Have a night Carlos Beltran! Beltran helped the San Francisco Giants end the Arizona Diamondbacks winning streak and makeup a game in the NL West race.
Beltran had a 4-for-4 night and had a chance to hit for the cycle. He had the homer, triple and the single. Just wasn’t able to get that double.
The Giants knew it was a must win game last night. They defeated the D-Backs by the score of 6-2. I believe the Giants must at least take 2-out-of-3 against the D-Backs to still have a chance, but how sweet would a sweep be? That would have the Giants just 3 games back, and they still have 3 more games against the D-Backs this year.
Game 2 of the series is tonight and the freak Tim Lincecum is on the mound. Let’s hope Timmy can get this win streak to 3 games and help us catch another game in the NL West.

Still Fight Left In The G-Men?
The Giants are close to dropping another game to the Cubs, and also losing another game in the NL West race. As I’m writing this the Giants are down 5-1 and the Diamondbacks are up 9-3.
Do you think the Giants have hit rock bottom? Do you think they still have some fight left in them to come back and catch the Diamondbacks?
Let’s just hope these guys haven’t given up on this year. This pitching staff is keeping us around but these guys need to score some runs. Stay tuned Giants fans to see how this torture season turns out. No one expected a parade in 2010.

Beltran,Lincecum and Belt lift the Giants
Hey Giants fans! The Giants were able to stay 2 games back of the Diamondbacks yesterday. Thanks to Tim Lincecum, Brandon Belt and Carlos Beltran. Lincecum handled the Padres and also got an RBI single. The Giants other run came on a solo blast over the right field wall by Beltran.
Houston is in town tonight so hopefully the G-Men can get hot during this 12 game homestand.

Save The City Graphics
It’s sad to hear that the MLB team is shutting down The City Graphics. It’s ran by a die hard Giants fan. It has very cool Giants designs that I use on SF Giants Rumors.
Just really sad that someone that has this much passion is considered a threat to the MLB. His work is great and everyone knows it, so why wouldn’t they just put him on their payroll and have his work be official MLB work?
Let’s hope they can both find some common ground so we can see the site stay online with all the great designs!

Giants Update!
The Giants are hoping Carlos Beltran will be ready to go on Tuesday. His bat is needed and hopefully he can turn into the offensive spark plug that they traded for.
Jonathan Sanchez (sprained ankle) is hoping he can pitch Sunday his schedules day, but the Giants have the pitcher for that day listed as TBD.
Jeff Keppinger is available off the bench tonight so he will likely get a start tomorrow in Houston.
Brian Wilson will get checked out again tomorrow and possibly start playing catch.
Andres Torres is playing a rehab game tonight with the Fresno Grizzlies.

My Giants Thoughts 8/17/11
The sun is out (not really it’s night time), the birds are chirping (kids yelling in the background). Life is great again in Giantsland!! The G-Men gained ground in the Wild Card race by beating the Atlanta Braves. They also gained ground in the NL West, as the Diamondbacks lost to the Phillies.
Giants players are still hurt and are taking numbers just to get on the DL list. Brian Wilson has inflammation in his elbow, and will be out a couple days. That’s better than a trip to the DL right?
Carlos Beltran is on the DL, but he still has time to come back and do some Van-damage! The Giants are just 2 1/2 back with all these injuries. Start getting a couple of these guys back and it’s going to be a boost that this team needs.
These guys still have some swagger in their step and know their pitching staff can be lights out. They just have to limp their way in the playoffs and let the chips fall where they may once their in.

Who’s injured??
Hey Giants fans… Wow I don’t even know where to start. The Giants are having open tryouts tomorrow (just kidding).

Jonathan Sanchez also came out of tonight’s game with a sprained ankle. The Giants are in a downward spiral and slipping away in the NL West and the Wild Card race. They are down 1-0 right now to the Braves and haven’t got a single hit yet. There is still time to pull this game off. Stay tuned…
